After a month of collecting, Toks restaurants delivered $208,241 to the “Solo por Ayudar” Foundation, which was obtained by the “How well you know how to take care of yourself” campaign launched during the month of October.
From October 2 to 31, customers of Toks restaurants were able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes intended especially for fundraising for this foundation, which is chaired and led by the Chile Mobile Number List renowned presenter Lolita Ayala. In addition to the dishes, there was a piggy bank in the checkout area of all the restaurants, so that anyone who wished could make a voluntary contribution and/or a donation of $5, $10 or $15 that was offered at checkout.
The World Health Organization designated October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to raise awareness and early detection of this disease, since globally it is estimated that each year there are 1.38 million new cases and 458 thousand deaths from this cause, this being the type of cancer with the highest incidence in women (WHO). In Mexico, this malignant tumor is the leading cause of death for Mexican women over 25 years of age, according to data from the General Directorate of Health Information dependent on the Ministry of Health.
This is why Toks managers decided to take action on the matter and invite all their clients to contribute to solving a problem of which we are all part.Miguel Rivas, coordinator of the Greenpeace Mexico Plastics campaign, explained that the Agreement does not consider the modification in the industrial applications of plastic, the legal obligations for the business community, the mitigation of the environmental impact of plastic, the government's refusal to establish laws of circular economy, etc., aspects that prevent having a real policy of control, recycling and non-abuse of polymers.
“The flaws of this Agreement are being a cheap copy of the UN global plastics agreement, without respecting dialogues between all the actors involved. Furthermore, it does not contemplate new ways to reduce plastic from its origin and does not represent all the actors in the chain, it has short goals that are subject to official investments and support,” he considered.
He explained that “the great responsibilities are left to the municipal governments, in addition to blaming the citizen for the entire plastic problem. We ask for a law, not agreements that supplant business obligations.
